QUEENSLANDERS have been warned to brace for two days of power blackouts due to the worsening electricity crisis and Kennedy MP, Bob Katter, ain’t a happy camper, though, he’s volunteering to teach people how to boil a billy over a fire, a skill they’ll need to master if common sense doesn’t prevail soon.
In response to reports[i] this afternoon that energy users should brace for power outages over the next two days, Mr Katter said he wasn’t surprised and warned that people should get used to it.
“Any system that cannot be understood by the ordinary person in the street – and the issue of electricity supply is an example of one of these systems – is going to have catastrophic consequences,” Mr Katter warned.
“Pushing people to put glass on the roof in a big town or city is an act of extreme irresponsibility. The real costs are horrifically high for solar, and the amount of energy needed in producing that super high-quality glass would leave me being very dubious that there is a net C02 value at all.
“Solar power is incredibly good in remote locations like the little towns in the Gulf, Cape York and mining ventures etc, but for a whole system to be based upon the sun shining and supplying power for only eight hours a day, is simply absurd.
“The ultimate outcome of this policy is that for every 100 hours that glass is on a roof, a power station worker and coal worker is sacked. Both jobs are sent to China.
“The fact that I am a well-off person and get my power for free because my wife put solar panels on the roof, while my retired neighbours have to pay twice as much for their power, effectively to subsidise the rich people who pay nothing, is disgusting.
“We need reliable water and power. And to allow 42 percent of the Australian power supply to be owned by Chinese interests and a 100 percent of the 12 percent solar supply, it’s no wonder that a third of the Australian people said they weren’t voting for a major party at the last election.”
Mr Katter said his Sovereign Fuel Security and Emission Reduction legislation will secure a reliable fuel and transport industry and that the same needs to be done in electricity.
“All foreign ownership of energy/electricity delivery systems has got to be terminated because the corporate interest in solar panels and windfarms is nothing more than an energy scam, and in the case of wind farms, a land scam.
“Masquerading as saviours of the planet but yet they have never planted a tree or even an ornamental bush in their lives."
Mr Katter issued a final warning to residents of Queensland.
“For those that are happy for pensioners to pay twice as much for power to subsidise the rich, for those who are happy to sack Australians and send their jobs to China, for those who are happy to go without their television, air conditioning or stove, well just keep going the way you’re going. As for me, I’d recommend stockpiling your firewood and I volunteer to teach everyone how to boil a billy. You are going to need it.”
