Independent Federal Member for Kennedy Bob Katter is astounded that he has beaten Prime Minister Julia Gillard in the online popular internet stakes.

Internet search giant Google has revealed its annual Zeitgeist (German for „the spirit of our times‟) list of Australian's top web searches, and in a year of higher-than-normal election searches, 'Australian Election' and 'Bob Katter' ranked as the top two fastest-rising searches for information about the historic hung parliament poll, followed by 'Julia Gillard' in third place and then 'election results'.*

“I don't think that the rest of Australia is listening to a boy from Cloncurry,” Mr Katter said.

“But Australia is a wonderful country. We've all got to put our shoulder to the wheel and fight to keep it that way – we are a justifiably proud nation.

“In modern day politics we have a severe shortage of visionaries - ' nation builders like “Red Ted” Theodore, Ben Chifley, “Black Jack” McEwen and “Joh” Bjelke-Petersen are not around any more.

“We need hope – we want our young politicians to have sufficient intelligence and courage to make the tough decisions not simply refer everything to a Committee/inquiry/investigation to develop a stratgy/plan/statement

“As Australians we don‟t build statues to our heroes, we all know what birds do on statues.”
