KAP Leader and Federal Member for Kennedy Bob Katter together with Shane Knuth, KAP State Member for Hill have provided personal donations to Mission Beach Swim Club for its foundation membership.

Mission Beach Swim Club is a new club to Mission Beach, made possible by the newly completed Mission Beach aquatic centre.

“This was a great thing to be a part of – starting up a new club in Mission Beach,” said Mr Katter.

“It is good to support these rural beach communities and swimming has a big history in providing wonderful fitness and activeness to all generations,” said Mr Knuth.

“Outside of the fitness benefits, every child should know how to swim and our swimming clubs are a great place to start,” said Mr Knuth.

“My Chief of Staff and Mission Beach local Anne Pleash is a swimmer (just recently swum the English Channel) so I was under no illusions - I did not have a choice in providing the money,” Mr Katter joked.

Mission Beach Swim Club caters to recreational and competitive swimmers and has regular club nights.

The first Club Night for 2019 will be on Friday 1 February at 5:30pm at the Mission Beach aquatic centre.

Mission Beach Swim Club required close to $400 to become a member of Swimming Queensland. Katter and Knuth each donated $200 to the club to cover this cost.
