15 March 2018: KAP Federal Member for Kennedy Hon Bob Katter MP was delighted to see the results of $6,000 in Federal funding for the Mission Beach Surf Lifesaving Club for new roller doors and guttering on the clubhouse.

“There’d be no better use for money than contributing to our Surf Life Saving Clubs,” said Mr Katter.
“We salute the Surf lifesaving organisations, we really couldn’t count how many lives they save in a year.
“Not to mention the important task of getting young people proficient in swimming - that in itself is a big thing.
“Many people attribute the “tough” image of Australia to our footballers, but our lifesavers maybe even more so what gave to Australia its ‘manly-he-man’ image.
“And I can’t blame the sheilas wanting to be life savers with all these handsome men. These blokes do a terrific job, and I’ve gotta say the sheilahs do too because my Chief of Staff is an active member in the Mission Beach Surf Lifesaving Club,” said Mr Katter.
The Federal grant was provided through the Stronger Communities Programme which provides small grants from $2,000 to $20,000 on a 50:50 basis to community groups to fund small capital projects.
Club President Malcolm Davison said, “This project means that the security of the club is maintained and the guttering is an obvious one for our location up here.”
“We thank Bob Katter and the Federal Government for this grant,” said Mr Davison.
