"You are a murderer" - Katter warns MPs on NQ croc crisis
2017-08-16

16 August 2017: KAP Federal Member for Kennedy Bob Katter today launched a scathing attack on State Members of Parliament for failing to manage the exploding crocodile numbers in North Queensland; warning them that unless the crocs are removed they are considered conspirators in murder.

The warning comes as another saltwater crocodile was recorded and shared on social media by locals at the popular Ross and Locke swimming hole just south of Edmonton.

“Every State Member of Parliament and aspiring LNP Member of Parliament has conspired in murder.

“If those crocs are not removed, people will die in the most cruel manner possible. It’s not crocs fault, it is your fault for not removing them from peoples’ habitat”.

Mr Katter said the crocodile numbers throughout the region between Port Douglas and Mackay have dramatically climbed in the last 20 years and that the so-called crocodile ‘experts’ are badly ill-informed.

“My cousin-brothers who were here for 40,000 years knew and understood, quite simply, there were hardly any crocs in these areas.

“As a 72 year old North Queenslander who, except for Parliament, has hardly ever been out of Queensland in my life can say this: being an owner/operator miner and a cattle and cattle station owner for most of my life, having served in the army and scouts and cadets, and being an enthusiastic shooter; I can honestly say that up until 20 years ago I had never seen a croc in the wild in my life.

“So don’t let any “been-here-for-two-minutes” experts tell us otherwise. I, like every decent civilised human being, is sickened by these people who put the lives of the crocs over the lives of the people.

“We have advocated for the removal of all crocodiles from all river systems and estuaries between Port Douglas and Mackay – an area where a million people live and exist”.

Mr Katter warned that unless there was an immediate course of action in removal, there would not be a single North Queenslander who will go near a watercourse in the next twelve months.

“Every watercourse is crocodile habitat. So you know that if you don’t vote for the KAP legislation it will result in the terrifying death of North Queenslanders who are dying at the rate of probably one a year now.

“Don’t blame the crocodiles; blame the MPs who are murderers”.
