15 August 2017: KAP Federal Member for Kennedy Bob Katter said today, in light of the Deputy Prime Minister’s citizenship questions, all bets were off and he wouldn’t be guaranteeing supply and confidence to the Turnbull Government but rather will be doing what was best for Kennedy, North Queensland and Australia.
“The Prime Minister set the rules. He was determined to enforce the rules against opposition Members of Parliament. But then when three of his own got caught – a new set of rules! Not good.
“His stating what the High Court will decide was nothing less than appalling. It raises the most serious questions. The Prime Minister has put another cloud of suspicion over a court that is already regarded with deep suspicion.
“The rules are very simple, and very clear, ‘If you owe allegiance to another country, then you are disqualified’. This is the law and it is a “good law”.
“I’m not out to nail Minister Joyce. Joyce, George Christensen and I are the only three Country Party Members left in this place. But for three years I have been waiting for the Deputy PM to do something that would show he was Country Party.
“Joyce will get re-elected in a by-election, but his removal puts George Christensen and myself in the driver’s seat – a Royal Commissions into the banks, the abolition of the backpacker tax and ethanol – a better Australia is looming”.
