Burketown fibre optic goes live!
2017-05-05

5 May 2017: KAP Member for Kennedy, Bob Katter is feeling the buzz after confirming the new fibre optic link in Burketown has finally gone live.

Mr Katter has praised Kylie Camp from Burketown for continuously fighting for the communication services in the outback.

“We’ve have had massive problems with the slow speed of the satellite service and I’ve got to say that one of the great campaigners has been Kylie Camp from Burketown.

“So today we pay her a very fine tribute and there’s no doubt in my mind that the reason Burketown got priority was because of the energy of Kylie.

“For all of the people living in the outback operating tourist resorts, living on remote cattle stations and little towns like Burketown– they are now connected to the world at an acceptable communications speed.
