Katter: Arnot Creek Bridge opening is Ingham community triumph
2017-02-27

KAP Member for Kennedy, Bob Katter is honouring the hard work of the Ingham community following last week’s Arnot Creek Bridge opening on the Bruce Highway, 12km north of Ingham.

Mr Katter said, “it arrives with a great deal of personal satisfaction for the people of Ingham who’ve worked so hard on this and I particularly single out Cr Andrew Lancini, Felix Reitano and Cr Mary Brown.”

The $10m bridge, ($8m Federal, $2m State) upgrade has replaced the 19.5 span metre bridge with a 25 metre span bridge.

This will improve safety and efficiency on this part of the Bruce Highway. The increased width of the approaches will allow heavy vehicles to maintain a consistent speed through the Cardwell -Ingham passage rather than slowing down to 60km to cross the old Arnot Creek Bridge.

Mr Katter looks forward to personally experiencing the improved traffic flow.

Mr Katter said, “I also think we can thank the community for the Frances Creek project… and the cutting through of the Cardwell Range which Cr Andrew Lancini said opens the way for sugar cane to come back from the Cardwell Valley to an NQBE mill. It will help secure our massive prawn farming operations in Cardwell where year around access in vital.”

The Arnot Creek Bridge project created 31 jobs
