KAP Member for Kennedy will present the keynote speech at the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) Business Leaders Council Luncheon in Sydney today.
Following Mr Katter’s article in the 62nd Edition of the Quarterly Essay, replying to the article by George Megalogenis; Mr Katter’s address at the ACCI Luncheon will commence a series of talks on Developmentalism: Moving Australia Forward.
Mr Katter said, “I think that a National debate has been sparked. Both of Australia’s major parties have no program to move Australia forward.
“All the construction phase work for iron ore, coal seam gas and coal is close to completion in the next 12 months and after that 100 000 jobs will be lost.
“Deregulation and “anti-interventionism” has killed off other industries like wool, dairy and sugar.
“After twenty-five years we’re entitled to ask, ‘what other industries?’ We’re told service industries. Australia’s future is to be waiting on tables for foreign visitors (tourism)? Or are our universities to become visa shops (education)?
“Both sides of politics have not put forward answers and not even a proposal.
“I propose an aggressive solution of Developmentalism, that is -- deficit budgeting, or borrowing money – but only to create development, jobs and to build the future of our country.”
