If you thought Murray Goulburn had reached its last low. Yesterday the cooperative announced it will cut what it pays suppliers even further, commencing July 1.

KAP member for Kennedy, Bob Katter, who left the National Party over its willingness to deregulate the dairy industry -- is saddened but not surprised by what has eventuated of the industry, and will fight to change it:

“The dairy industry in Qld must move to protect itself from the persecution that is taking place in Victoria.

“Simply, there has to be a restoration of an arbitration system and a return of the Dairy Marketing Board to set the price of milk.

“If the KAP State Members could get the Sugar Marketing Bill through for arbitration in Qld, I’m confident they can get through our Dairy Industry bill.
