KAP Federal Leader and Member Kennedy Bob Katter championed Australian manufacturing and agriculture at the Australian Manufacturing and Farming Program (AMFP) in Albury Wodonga today with fellow crossbenchers Senator John Madigan and Independent Member for Indi Cathy McGowan. The manufacturing and farming expo promoted the benefits of manufacturing, farming and food processing in Australia.

Mr Katter hit out at the successive LNP/ALP Governments for destroying Australian industries and effectively destroying our country.

“It doesn’t matter where you are looking there is carnage and wreckage thrusted upon us from the market fundamentalists who are zealots and yet the Australian people are still in the main, voting for the LNP/ALP Governments who are wedded-locked-solid into those policies that are disastrous” Mr Katter said.

“We are losing on every single front, we haven’t won a single round and this time next year Australia would have lost 72% of what is left of its manufacturing – there goes the car industry, and the last white goods factory closed in Orange a few months ago.

“I would like to ask Joe Hockey, if we are going to buy all of our petrol form overseas, all of our white goods from overseas, all of our motor vehicle from overseas, and all of our steel and aluminum from overseas, where are we going to get this money to buy all these things? “

“As the net importer of fruit and vegetables, net importer of pork and net importer of seafood, I mean our agriculture is completely wrecked; you’re not going to get anything from there. So what are you going to sell?” Mr Katter said.

Mr Katter emphasizes that we need to confront three issues in order to see a positive future:

1. the value of the dollar and interest rates;

2. the dominance of the two supermarket giants;

3. tariff subsidy.

“The free market zealots that have destroyed the country and are still doing so by advocating free trade deals with China, are sitting at the bargaining table with not a single bargaining chip, yet expecting to get something out of it; you’re not going to get anything out of it,” Mr Katter said.
