KENNEDY MP, Bob Katter has officially opened his new Mareeba Electorate Office after throwing his trademark Akubra Arena hat through the front door at an opening party this week.
While the size of the celebration was limited due to Coronavirus, Mr Katter said it was a ripper of an afternoon with entertainment performed by country music singer Darryl Chapman, and guest appearances by Hill MP, Shane Knuth and Mareeba Councillor, Lenore Wyatt.
“Mareeba is the centre of the Kennedy electorate and it is the production bench of the Far North Queensland economy,” he said.
“The Rural Action Council based in Mareeba were the people who pushed me to leave the Nationals as they were deregulating and destroying every industry.”
Mr Katter said Mareeba was an integral part of the Kennedy Electorate and needed an electorate office so that the people’s needs and concerns would be heard loud and clear.
“Our office handles hundreds of calls and visits from local constituents every month to fix these problems,” he said.
“Political and electoral staff are every bit the Member of Parliament as I am; they are the eyes and the ears on the ground.”
Constituents can contact the office on (07) 4092 1632, or visit in person at 141 Byrnes Street Mareeba, QLD, 4880.
