KAP Leader and Federal Member for Kennedy Bob Katter today lashed out at the ALP and LNP Governments in disgust over their “outrageous hypocrisy” regarding 457 visas and the crack-down on foreign fly-in workers.

While the Prime Minister strengthened her position on foreign fly-ins and voiced her concerns in a speech to the ACTU this morning, Mr Katter was fuming over the figures that prove the two parties are ‘two-faced’.

“These two parties are so busy arguing with each other about who will be responsible for flying in more foreign workers that they forget to look at their track record on this topic,” Mr Katter said.

“Figures from the Department of Immigration and Citizenship say between the years 1996 and 1996, over a 10 year period, the LNP allowed an average of 34,955 foreign workers into Australia each year. Between 2008 and 2012, over a 4 year period, the ALP allowed an average of 70,000 foreign workers into Australia each year.

“Whichever way you look at it, it’s almost a million jobs that we’ve handed on a silver platter to foreign workers that should have gone to hard working Australians.

“This is nothing but deceitfulness in its most pure form considering last year alone, the ALP flew in over 125,000 foreign workers.”

Mr Katter says that he will have both sides of government in sight when Katter’s Australia Party win control of the Senate in September this year.

“When we win control of the Senate, we will give them hell unless and until the number of 457 visa grants are reduced to a number closer to 6,000.

“As a Party we will continue to be on the picket lines, waving our Australian and Eureka flags in protest of the importation of foreign fly-ins.

“The best advice I can offer to all Australians is to turn off your television because what you are seeing is towering hypocrisy,” Mr Katter said.
