KAP Federal Member for Kennedy Bob Katter has confirmed he intends to remain as such in the 2013 federal election and has ruled out a Senate run.
“Kennedy’s my place; the pubs, the rodeos, the mines, the stations, the beaches, the jungles, the waterfalls, the great western plains... Australia is my home, Kennedy is my heart.”
At a press conference held in Brisbane yesterday, Mr Katter confirmed KAP plans to contest all 150 Lower House seats and also run for the Senate in the states and territories except South Australia.
“We will make sure that we have covered our base right across Australia.
“We are pulling no punches and giving people an alternative."
South Australia may be without a KAP Senate Candidate because of existing support for Nick Xenophon.
“We don’t agree with Nick (independent Senator) on everything, but on the really important issues, we’ve fought side-by-side and we stick with our friends.
“We would be preserving that relationship and if Nick wants us to run there, we will be running there. But if not, we will be throwing our whole-hearted support behind Nick Xenophon.”
Mr Katter also clarified his position regarding the highly speculated Clive Palmer alliance.
"We must make our position unequivocally clear; we are a party in our own right.”
Mr Katter asserted that the Party already had “60 or 70” Lower House candidates in the pipeline with the remainder to be finalised in the coming months.
