Bob told a passionate crowd of rallying public servants that the State Government had broken a promise to protect jobs.

He told them that in the weeks before the state election, Together secretary Alex Scott stood in the Australian Party headquarters and said he had a commitment from the then would-be premier that public servants jobs would be protected.

Bob said: “Thousands of public servants and their families are now paying the price of the Premier’s treachery. And to all the business owners clapping about the sacking of public servants, they will be crying on the other side of their face when profits start dropping and the tills go quiet as 20,000 people struggle to pay their mortgages and buy only the bare essentials.”

We have been advised that more North Qld rallies have been pencilled in for the coming weeks, including at the Townsville Hospital this month; then throughout September (at Mt Isa in the first week, Townsville again towards the end of the second-last week, Emerald and Ingham); then in October at Ayr, Cairns and Mackay.
